Focus

:: Why do I so easily forget where my focus should be?

:: It really is a beautiful thing: we were created to love God and love people.

:: That should be my focus.

:: Some days it is really challenging to remember to praise God. Why? Because my heart is seeking the adoration for itself. I sinfully seek to find meaning in other people or things. I promote myself more than God. I often do not give God the praise, honor, and glory he deserves.

:: I want to engage in a relationship with him to the point where he is my supreme focus.

:: Some days it is really challenging to remember to focus on people. Instead my days get consumed with grocery shopping, homework, cleaning, cooking and at times leisure activities. Even when I'm around people or even talking face-to-face with people... I still am thinking about tasks or things.

:: I want to actively listen, truly see the person, and know their heart.

:: I want my focus to be: Love God, Love People

Celebrations

We been enjoying our share of CELEBRATIONS lately...

We had a great surprise birthday party for our friend Leah the first weekend of April-

We celebrated with my brother and new sister-in-law at their wedding the second weekend of April!!


Then came Easter!


Our friends, Jacob and Leah, hosted our community group over to their house for Easter Dinner. The meal time was very festive... even the napkins were bunnies! Brett was pretty excited too!

Next, we CELEBRATED my 25th Birthday.

When we arrived home, there were donuts with candles, a wonderful birthday card, and...



A BIKE!!!! I was so excited to get a bike!

Later in the week, wonderful friends from church celebrated my birthday with me as well.

I have been so blessed this month to be able to celebrate birthdays and weddings with friends and family!

Seasons Change

I am so thankful summer is right around the corner. It's interesting how we desire for the seasons to change almost all the time. When it's Winter time I long for Summer to be here, but during the heat of the summer, I long for Fall to come. Thankfully we are enjoying a beautiful Spring (even though it's been cold for a few days now). I am very excited the Lord created seasons to come and go... and not just the weather seasons, but also the seasons in life.

Right now, school has been non-stop for both Brett and I. Hopefully this summer will bring a much needed relief to our busy lives. Goals for the summer include:
-going on long walks through parks and the neighborhood
-finishing our kitchen remodel
-planting a garden
-visiting friends and family in other states (or visiting other states with good friends!)
-celebrating new marriages and new births
-getting a bike in order to enjoy the weather and the exercise
-starting a new job (more to come)
-boating on the lake with good friends
-grilling lots of wonderful food
-shopping at the Farmer's market
-enjoying the little things in life

I can't wait for the summer to begin!!


We love seeing the ducks when we visit the park. Brett is always sure to give me the correct name for each duck! I love that he knows names of many animals and trees! I learn so much from him!
